KATHMANDU, July 22: A Chinese national has succumbed to the coronavirus (COVID-19) infection in Nepal on Wednesday, the Ministry of Health and Population said.
The 49-year-old Chinese woman, who earlier tested positive for COVID-19, died of coronavirus while undergoing treatment at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) in Maharajgunj on Wednesday morning, according to ministry spokesperson Dr Jageshwar Gautam.

The Chinese national was working in Pokhara. She was admitted to the Manipal Hospital in Pokhara after she complained of breathing difficulties. She was airlifted to the Gande Hospital in Kathmandu where she had tested positive for COVID-19. She was later referred to the TUTH for further treatment.
It is learnt that she was a heart patient. She is the first foreigner to succumb to the coronavirus infection in Nepal.
Meanwhile, a 60-year-old man from Mahottari also died of coronavirus on Wednesday. With this, Nepal's COVID-19 death toll has climbed to 42, according to Dr Gautam.
