CHITWAN, June 17: The prohibitory order enforced by the local administration has been extended in Chitwan as the cases of coronavirus infection are on the rise in the district.
A meeting of the District COVID Management Committee on Wednesday extended the prohibitory order for a week effective from last night. Issuing a notice, the District Administration Office has extended the order up to 12.00 in the night of June 24.

With the extension of the prohibition, the orders enforced earlier have been given continuity. The departmental stores would remain open according to the order.
Chief District Officer Premlal Lamichhane informed that the department stores are allowed to sell food stuff. Though the earlier prohibitory order has been continued as it was, the committee has shown some flexibility in terms of the operation of departmental stores.
The new order has also allowed the operation of book stores by adopting the health safety protocol.
So far, 15,131 people have been infected in the district. Among them, 1,429 are active cases while 129 among them are undergoing treatment in hospitals. As many as 252 people have succumbed to coronavirus infection in the district.
