BANEPA, Aug 3: A team of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) arrested five policemen from police stations at Hinguwapati and Banepa in Kavrepalanchowk district as they were caught red-handed while taking bribes from tipper truck drivers on Thursday evening.
The CIAA made the raids after receiving tip-offs that the police were taking Rs 2,000 in bribe per tipper truck operating on the route.

Hundreds of tipper trucks bring sand to the Kathmandu Valley from the Indrawati River in Kavrepalanchowk and Sindhupalchowk districts.
Those arrested are Tej Prasad Bhattarai of Hinguwapati police station, and Bhakta Bahadur Hayu and Gyan Bahadur Lamgadhe of Panchkhal police station. Other two are traffic policemen Hari Prasad Baniya and Ramhari Manandhar stationed in District Traffic Police of Banepa. They were all caught along with the bribe money.
The CIAA had deployed three teams after receiving information about the ongoing bribery.
