KATHMANDU, Dec 13: The 1st COAS National Lawn Tennis Tournament-2078 organized by the Nepal Army and technically supported by the Nepal Lawn Tennis Association has been inaugurated by Chief of Army Staff Prabhu Ram Sharma at a ceremony held at the Lawn Tennis Court at Jangi Adda.
A total of 185 players will participate in the competition in which they will be competing in 12 different events. The competition will be held at Tribhuvan Army Officers Club Lawn Tennis Court of Nepal Army and the Lawn Tennis Court of Nepal Lawn Tennis Association at Dashrath Stadium from December 13 to December 20.

Group Veterans Singles and Veterans Doubles and Inter-Governmental Men's Doubles are among those participating in the event, according to a statement issued by the Nepal Army.
Similarly, the first, second and third place winners in the men's and women's singles will be awarded cash prizes of Rs. 50,000, 25,000 and 15,000. The cash prizes of Rs. 40,000, 20,000 and 10,000 will be provided for the men’s and women’s doubles winners. There is also availability of various cash prizes with trophies and certificates for the winners in various categories.
The Nepal Army is confident that this kind of sports competition will further support the development of national and international sports and help in strengthening and deepening the civil-military relations, according to the statement.
