KATHMANDU, Aug 4: Assuming the office of prime minister on Thursday, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has announced that his government would launch a special campaign entitled “the government for poor” with programs related to livelihood, education, health, insurance, technology transfer, employment, self-employment, integration of local market and banking and food security.
The prime minister said that the government would first carry out a detail study to identify the poor people and implement programs with a view to uplift their living standards.
He also announced that the first installment of housing grant to 533,000 earthquake victims of 31 districts will be distributed within the next 45 days and vowed to expedite the reconstruction tasks.
Meanwhile, the first cabinet meeting of the new government held on Thursday evening decided to provide Rs 100,000 to the kin of those who died in the recent incidents of floods and landslides in various parts of the country.
Dahal while assuming office earlier on the day directed all the ministries and concerned government bodies to start taking steps for implementing the visions of the new government, according to a press release issued by the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM) on Wednesday.

Likewise, he promised to depute doctors at all Primary Health Centers within three months.
He also decided to motivate the families from the Dalit communities across the country and all families from the Karnali zone by providing cash incentives of Rs 1,000 to those who register birth of babies within the given time.
“People's aspirations will be the major guideline for me during my stay in office and I will try my best to ensure employment for them by creating sustainable projects in the country,” PM Dahal said. “I will take the issues raised by Madhesi, Dalits and Tharu communities as well as other people seriously.”
