Court issues interim order to stop road expansion

DAMAULI, June 27: The Tanahun District Court has ordered Bandipur rural municipality to stop its bid to expand the road from Piple to Bandipur.


The court issued the interim order after conducting a hearing on a writ petition registered by Santa Kumar Shrestha, a local of Bandipur rural municipality-2. He had named Bandipur rural municipality, Bandipur chair, ward-2 office, and ward chairperson as defendants.

A single bench of district judge Deepak Dhakal issued interim order to stop the road widening for some time.


The district court in its decision has noted that widening the road by encroaching private land of applicants of Bandipur-2 without their formal consent would undermine the citizens' right to property
