SC issues interim order not to stop Bir Hospital’s food and other expenses

KATHMANDU, Jan 20: The Supreme Court (SC) has issued an interim order not to block the necessary budget for Bir Hospital.


On Friday, a division bench of Justices Hari Prasad Phuyal and Balkrishna Dhakal issued an order not to withhold the necessary budget for food and other expenses at Bir Hospital.

Advocate Bimal Pokharel had registered a case against the National Institute of Medical Sciences Bir Hospital, the Ministry of Health and Population and the Ministry of Finance on January 1, challenging the decision to stop food and other expenses to Bir Hospital.


Bir Hospital is currently reeling through economic hardships after the budget required for regular food, oxygen and maintenance was cut in the current fiscal year. The hospital said that other services are also affected due to the budget cut.
