Kangana Ranaut’s plea seeking permanent exemption from appearing in the court during the hearing of the case filed by Javed Akhtar was recently rejected by Andheri metropolitan magistrate. The court also noted that the actress may be busy with professional assignments but she cannot forget that she is an accused in this case.

The actress has reportedly appeared only twice in court in this case, once when the case was taken on board and once when she alleged bias against the magistrate. According to a news portal, Magistrate RR Khan noted that Kangana has not been present for the framing of a particular offence and has been reportedly ‘dictating her own terms for the trial of this case in the manner she likes’. While deniying her permanent exemption plea, Magistrate noted that Kangana has to the established procedure of law and terms and conditions of her bail bonds and added that she is a celebrity and may have her professional assignments but she cannot forget that she is an accused in this case.

Back in 2020, Javed Akhtar had filed a defamation complaint against Kangana following her interview after the untimely demise of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The actress had alleged that Akhtar belonged to the "suicide gang" of Bollywood, who had pushed "outsiders" like her to end their life. Soon after, Javed Akhtar filed a defamation complaint against Kangana at the Magistrate court. At present, this case stands at a point where charges have to be framed against the actress.
