KATHMANDU, May 5: CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli said that the stay order from the Supreme Court over the impeachment motion against Chief Justice has put a break on the attempt of ending independence of judiciary.

He criticized Nepali Congress and CPN (Maoist Center) for taking the 'illegal' and 'unprecedented' move of registering impeachment motion against Chief Justice for not getting court's verdict in their favor.

Speaking in a program organized in Kathmandu to introduce party's candidates in the upcoming local election, Oli applauded the stay-order issued by the apex court.

A single bench of Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana ordered the parliament not to move forward the impeachment motion filed against CJ Karki in the parliament.

The court also paved the way for CJ Karki, who was suspended following the impeachment motion, to resume her duty.
