COVID-19 kills 1,004 people in Nepal in just five months
KATHMANDU, Nov 3: The number of people dying of COVID-19 infection has crossed 1,000 on Tuesday, according to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).

With 20 COVID-19 patients succumbing to this viral disease in the past 24 hours, the total number of fatalities linked to the viral infection has hit 1,004. The country reported the first death on May 16. A 29-year-old female from Sindhupalchowk district had been the first victim in Nepal.
Meanwhile, the ministry confirmed 3,114 new cases of the disease on Tuesday afternoon. With 1,867 males and 1,247 females being diagnosed with the viral infection of the 11,166 real time PCR tests, the total caseload has advanced to 179,614. The first case was detected on January 23 earlier this year.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the country witnessed a total of 141,134 recoveries including 3,142 in the last one day. The recovery rate stands at 78.6 percent. The COVID-19 data updated by the ministry shows that there are still 37,476 active cases across the country.
The Kathmandu Valley on Tuesday added 1,468 more cases including 819 males and 649 females. With this, the total number of infections has soared to 81,068.
