COVID-19 death toll in Gandaki Province rises to 22

POKHARA, Sept 9: The coronavirus death toll in Gandaki Province has risen to 22 after a 64-year-old man died of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Tuesday.

POKHARA, Sept 9: The coronavirus death toll in Gandaki Province has risen to 22 after a 64-year-old man died of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Tuesday.


Province Health Directorate in Gandaki said that the man from Devchuli Municipality-1 of Nawalpur who earlier tested positive for COVID-19 breathed his last at around 5:30PM while undergoing treatment at COVID-19 Hospital in Chitwan.


He was shifted to the intensive care unit of the hospital after his condition further worsened with respiratory complications. He had been undergoing kidney dialysis for the past few months.


With this, coronavirus death toll in the Province has reached 22.

The Province has witnessed increasing number of COVID-19 cases in recent months. As of today, the Province has recorded 26,79 cases of coronavirus.


According to the Directorate, seven new cases of COVID-19 were recorded on Wednesday morning. 


The Province authorities have carried out 53,336 PCR tests as of today, in which, 50,657 tested negative for coronavirus. Of the infected, 1,804 persons were discharged after fully recovery.


According to Binod Bindu Sharma, the spokesperson for the Directorate, there are currently 853 active cases of COVID-19 in the Province.
