COVID-19: Number of infected cases crosses 1,700 in Karnali

SURKHET, July 16: The number of coronavirus cases in Karnali Province has gone up with dozens of new cases reported in recent days. However, the people seem less scared of the virus as compared to the past.

SURKHET, July 16: The number of coronavirus cases in Karnali Province has gone up with dozens of new cases reported in recent days. However, the people seem less scared of the virus as compared to the past. 


Likewise, the lockdown order imposed to contain the spread of the virus is less effective in the districts of Karnali Province resulting in an increasing number of new cases of coronavirus infection.

On Wednesday, 24 people in the province tested positive for the virus while the number was 27 on Tuesday. A member of the Karnali Province Assembly also tested positive for the virus on Tuesday.


With this, the number of infected individuals in Karnali has reached 714, according to Dr Laxmi Narayan Tiwari, chief of Health Service Division of the Ministry of Social Development of the province. 


Director of Karnali Province Hospital in Surkhet, Dr Dambar Khadka said that the virus has spread at the community level due to the carelessness of the people. Recently, the virus is seen at community level as well, besides migrant workers returning from India, he added.


People of all sectors should apply maximum precautions in this situation, he cautioned.
