KATHMANDU, May 25: Experts estimate that the COVID infection rate will decrease after four weeks.
Minister for Health and Population Hridayesh Tripathi on Monday said, "COVID infection rate may decrease in the next four weeks."

Krishna Poudel, Director of the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division, said the infection rate will decrease or remain stable in four weeks.
The infection rate in Nepal stood at 36.3 percent in 24 hours on Monday. Of the 20,453 samples tested, 7,425 have been confirmed to be COVID infected. The infection rate is 2 percent lower than the data recorded the previous day. According to the ministry, the infection rate has dropped by 10 percent compared to that of three weeks ago.
The total number of infected people in Nepal has reached 520,461. Of them, 260,280 have been infected since the start of the second wave. Currently, there are 115,461 active cases. Meanwhile, the government has appointed Jageshwar Gautam, who is a member of COVID-19 Crisis Management Center, as the administrative chief of the Unified Central COVID Hospital.
Dr Gautam will now coordinate with COVID-19 hospitals across the country and manage treatment at Bir Hospital, the central COVID hospital. He expressed his commitment to solve the problem of patients not getting beds. "I will solve the problem by staying at Bir Hospital from tomorrow onward," he said.
