KATHMANDU, August 29: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has decided to give full shape to his Cabinet as soon as possible. Though Prime Minister Deuba earlier announced to allot six ministerial berths and “two more ministries if necessary” to the newly-formed CPN (Unified Socialist) party led by former PM Madhav Kumar Nepal, the latter’s party has found it quite difficult to choose leaders from his party for ministerial berths in the Deuba-led government as there are too many aspirants. However, lately, the party has expedited the process to send its leaders into the Deuba-led Cabinet. It is also said that plans are being made to maintain ‘a balance’ by handing over the ministry of communication to the party.
Earlier, Khimal Devkota, Bamdev Gautam, Tulsa Thapa, Beduram Bhusal, Birod Khatiwada, Mukunda Neupane, Metmani Chaudhary, Prem Ale, Kisan Shrestha, Ram Kumari Jhakri, Nira Devi Jairu and Parwati Bishanke among others had expressed their desire to become ministers representing the CPN (Unified Socialist) in the coalition government.
Government forms high level talk team
A meeting of the CPN-(Unified Socialist) party has decided to form an interim high command and join the government until the office-bearers are selected from the national council. The high command was formed by including lawmakers from the party’s standing committee. Senior leader Jhalanath Khanal, Mukunda Neupane, Beduram Bhusal and Pramesh Hamal are in the high command.
According to Mukunda Neupane, the names of the party’s leaders who will be joining the government will be selected by the high command. He also said that the CPN (Unified Socialist) will hold a national gathering soon and will select 17 office-bearers including forming a politburo and a standing committee. The leaders joining the government will be selected after the distribution of ministries is finanlized, Neupane said.
