KATHMANDU, Feb 20: National cricket team captain Paras Khadka has been discharged from hospital following an appendicitis surgery on Sunday. He was admitted to Grande Hospital, Dhapasi, on Friday after a sudden stomach pain.
According to the hospital’s Director Chakra Raj Pandey, he was diagnosed with recurrent appendicitis with intestinal obstruction. Khadka’s surgery was conducted via ‘hole surgery’ technology and he will be back in the field after a ‘short rest’.

Paras, however, will miss the practice match to be held in India as part of preparations for Nepal’s ICC World Cricket League match to be played at Kirtipur on March 11 and 13. Nepal is scheduled to take on Kenya in the fifth round match of the tournament at TU grounds.
“Paras will not join the training camp and practice match to be held in India from February 25 to March 3,” Nepal’s head coach Jagat Tamang told Republica. “Doctors have suggested that he could play after a week-long rest because it is a minor surgery. But we are leaving for Noida, India on February 24.
We will play three practice matches arranged by International Cricket Council (ICC) there. The opponents are yet to be finalized. We are most likely to play against Air India and Afghanistan A.” “Paras will join the training only after we return home from India on March 3. He will undergo self training after completing the rest period suggested by doctors,” Tamata said.
After playing four rounds (eight matches), Nepal stands sixth in the standings with six points. Nepal had defeated Namibia in both matches played at the TU grounds while lost one and won one in its away match against the Netherlands. Similarly, Nepal faced defeats in both legs against Scotland and Papua New Guinea.
Kenya is one spot ahead of Nepal in the standings with eight points. Kenya has won four and lost as many matches.
The tournament being played in double round robin format features eight teams. The top four finishers at the end of the contest will earn ticket for 2019 ICC World Cup Qualifiers.
