ROLPA, Nov 7: CPN (Maoist Center) leader Jhakku Prasad Subedi was in the limelight during the first Constituent Assembly elections in 2008 after defeating CPN-UML leader and former prime minister Madhav Kumar Nepal from Kathmandu-2. Now, the left alliance has once again nominated Subedi as a candidate from Kathmandu-2 for the upcoming parliamentary election.

While Subedi is busy wooing people for vote, his eldest son Santosh Subedi in Rolpa is strongly against the election. Stating that 'this election is meaningless', he is asking voters not to participate in the polls. If they still go to the polling booths to cast vote, 'anything could happen', says Santosh.

Santosh is actively involved in thwarting election in villages of Rolpa where his party, CPN Maoists led by Netra Bikram Chand, holds sway. The party has denounced election.

“This election is meaningless. This is a huge deception, a conspiracy against people,” he keeps saying to the people of Rolpa. He has been gathering youths and teaching them to follow the footsteps of his party leader 'to become a real nationalist'.

Santosh, who is also the son-in-law of Maoist Center leader Haribol Gajurel, is in the wanted list of the police. According to police, he could be arrested anytime.

“We have learnt that he is carrying out activities against the elections. We have been ordered to arrest him. He has been evading us but he could be caught anytime,” a police personal in Rolpa said.
