KATHMANDU, March 30: Chairman of CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal has filed a review petition against the Supreme Court verdict that invalidated the unification between the erstwhile CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Center).
Dahal in his review petition has argued that the apex court had ordered to invalidate the merge deal between the UML and the Maoist Center against the demand put forth by petitioner Rishi Kattel, who had sought to scrap the name of Nepal Communist Party (CPN) as his party was registered with the Election Commission in the same name earlier.
The apex court had not only scrapped the name of CPN-led jointly by K P Oli and Dahal, but also invalidated the unification agreement reached between the two parties. The verdict had again put Oli in majority, paving him legal grounds to take action against the rival faction leaders including Madhav Kumar Nepal in the party.

On Monday, Chairman Oli suspended the general membership of senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal and Vice Chairman Bhim Rawal for six months. He had earlier stripped all leaders close to senior leader Nepal off their party responsibility.
The two parties had announced unification on May 17, 2018 which suffered a vertical split after the Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli dissolved the lower house of the parliament earlier in December.
