KATHMANDU, Jan 20: Nepal recorded 12,338 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday along with 649 recoveries and four deaths, according to the latest information provided by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).
As many as 27,497 swab samples were tested for COVID-19 on the day. Of them, 10,052 PCR and 2,286 antigen tests turned out to be positive for the deadly virus.

There are currently 57,328 active cases of COVID-19 across the country. Among them, 55,836 are in self-isolation, 1,492 in institutional isolation, 186 in ICUs, and 27 on ventilators. So far, 11,632 people have died of viral infection across the country.
Meanwhile, the Kathmandu Valley alone recorded 6,981 cases of the virus on Thursday. Of them, 5,001 were recorded in Kathmandu, 850 in Bhaktapur, and 1,130 in Lalitpur districts.
