JUMLA, July 2: District Administrative Office (DAO) Jumla wrote a letter to Karnali Institute of Health Sciences (KIHS) amid deteriorating health condition of Dr. Govinda KC who is staging his 15th fast-unto-death hunger strike at Jumla.
DAO on Monday afternoon urged KIHS to provide best possible health treatment to senior orthopedic surgeon Dr Govinda KC.
However, the health team informed that it is impossible to bring necessary equipments on the covered hall.
Govt-sent docs not allowed to treat Dr KC
Dr KC arrived in Jumla on Friday and he was arrested on Saturday afternoon while staging a protest in front of Jumla District Administration Office (DAO) . He was arrested on the ground that protests could not be staged in a prohibited zone.
According to relative Kishor KC , the surgeon is currently on hunger strike inside the hall of the District Sports Development Committee and the hall has no supply of electricity.
Relative Kishor KC further added that the hall is very cold and there are no good clothes for which Surgeon KC could get health complications.
In light of Dr KC’s hunger strike, the DAO had issued a public notice banning any kind of strike including hunger strike, agitation or demonstration within 200 meters of the DAO, the district police office and the Karnali Institute of Health Sciences (KIHS).
Surgeon KC is supported by district based civil societies and political leaders.
