KATHMANDU, April 15: District Administration Office, Kathmandu has introduced strict provision for distribution passes, saying that there has been a high demand for it creating a risk of violating lockdown order imposed to stem the spread of novel coronavirus disease in the country.
Issuing a notice on Wednesday, DAO Kathmandu stated that passes will be provided only to those who have to attend the final rites of their relatives.
“Due to the crowd formed by the people seeking vehicle passes, risk of virus spread has increased,” assistant Chief District Officer Krishna Bahadur Katwal said in the notice.

Earlier from Tuesday, the Home Ministry started distributing e-passes to vehicles for emergency purposes.
According to the provision, people can apply for e-pass from epass.moha.gov.np and could choose options for individuals or vehicles. The applicants have to fill up their personal information, phone number, identification number, dates, service category, and information of the vehicle with supporting documents and choose the area and the district they want to access with the pass. Applicants will require valid reasons to receive the digital pass.
The District Administration Office will choose the applicants on the basis of their valid reasons and the supporting documents. The DAO will send an SMS if the applicant is selected and if not then the reason for rejection will be provided. Those who are selected will get a six-digit code.
People who are involved in essential service sectors like health, water supply, gas, milk, food, internet or require hospital visits for check-up, and funerals can apply for the e-pass.
