The office issued a notice today urging all to celebrate the Teej festival in a peaceful manner after people's representatives of various local levels in Kathmandu recorded a complaint at the office, saying the Teej festival has become very costly and aberrations have been taking place in the name of Teej.

Stating that different activities like an unnecessary expenditure, showoff of ornaments and outfit, noise pollution in the name of celebrating the Teej festival has defamed its originality, the office has requested all to maintain the religious, cultural and social significance of such festivals. Teej festival, observed basically by Hindu women, falls on September 2 this year.
