DAO Lalitpur issues area between United Nations Office and Ministers’ Residence as prohibited area for 6 months

KATHMANDU, Nov 21: The District Administration Office (DAO) Lalitpur has issued the area around the United Nations Office and the Ministers’ Residence at Pulchowk as prohibited area for six months to prevent demonstrations.

KATHMANDU, Nov 21: The District Administration Office (DAO) Lalitpur has issued the area around the United Nations Office and the Ministers’ Residence at Pulchowk as prohibited area for six months to prevent demonstrations.


Chief District Officer (CDO) of Lalitpur, Rudra Prasad Pandit, issued a prohibition order for six months with effect from November 21 as per sub-section (3A) of Section 6 of the Local Administration Act 1971.

It is mentioned in the notice issued by the CDO that no more than five people can gather in the places where the prohibition order has been issued. Chanting slogans, organising processions, demonstrations, sit-ins, blockade, hunger strikes, etc is also not allowed in those designated areas.


CDO Pandit said that the prohibitory area has been issued keeping in mind the security sensitivity of the United Nations Office and Ministers’ Residence at Pulchowk.
