KATHMANDU, Jan 6: The District Administration Office, Kathmandu, on Sunday decided to release 122 Chinese nationals on bail amounts of Rs 1,000 each.
Chief District Officer Janak Raj Dahal demanded bail of Rs 1,000 each from the Chinese nationals, who were arrested by police from different parts of Kathmandu for their alleged involvement in suspicious activities, including cyber crime.
Following the order from the local administration, police are preparing to hand over the Chinese to the Department of Immigration, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Hobindra Bogati, who is also the spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu.

On December 23, a joint team from the Metropolitan Police Crime Division (MPCD) and Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu made the arrests following a meeting between high-level authorities of Nepal and China.
Police had arrested the Chinese nationals for overstaying their visas. The Chinese government had requested the government of Nepal to deport its citizens, who were believed to be involved in suspicious activities.
The Chinese side had requested the Nepal government to arrest almost 1,006 of its nationals for their ‘suspicious’ activities in Nepal.
They were arrested from different places of Kathmandu including Manamaiju, Budhanilakantha, Bansbari and Thamel.
Of late, there has been a spike in the involvement of Chinese nationals in criminal activities such as banking fraud, among others.
