KATHMANDU, Jan 3: Harka Sampang, the mayor of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City, said that he is not a VIP but a servant of the people. In a social media post, Mayor Sampang said that is why he does not even use the VIP lounge at the airport.
“At the airport, I am asked: Sir, do you want to go through the VIP lounge? I say: I am not a VIP sir! I am just a 'P'! And I will stand in line with the general public!”

Questioning how leaders could act like VIPs later if they went to every home asking for votes, he said that such feudal practices should end. "I do not know in what sense, a servant of people who goes to people's doorsteps and asks for votes, have I become greater than the people today by following the people's orders?" he wrote, “The country should be brought back to a right track, millions and billions of rupees should not be wasted! These new forms of feudalism must be recognized and put to an end. Long live the country!”
