Dhulikhel Municipality allocates land for construction of int’l hockey stadium

KATHMANDU, April 22: An international hockey stadium is set to be built in Dhulikhel. The Nepal Hockey Association announced that Dhulikhel Municipality has allocated land for the construction of the stadium.

KATHMANDU, April 22: An international hockey stadium is set to be built in Dhulikhel. The Nepal Hockey Association announced that Dhulikhel Municipality has allocated land for the construction of the stadium.


The stadium will be constructed in the sports field located in Dhulikhel Ward No. 12. Additionally, a detailed project report (DPR) for the stadium that is being prepared by the Bagmati Province Sports Development Council is nearing completion, according to the Association.


Anil Prasad Sharma, the president of the Association, stated that the stadium's construction is expected to be completed within three years and that it will take place in three phases. "In the first phase, the ground will be constructed; in the second phase, we plan to construct the parapets and then hostels," said Sharma. "We estimate that the investment for the first phase will be between Rs 200 million and Rs 220 million. The total cost to complete the stadium is expected to be around Rs 800 million. If everything goes as planned, the construction will be completed in three years."

Sharma also mentioned that they have requested support from the Nepal Government, the International Hockey Federation, and various organizations to assist in constructing the stadium.


National Women's Hockey Tournament


The Sahana Pradhan Memorial National Women's Hockey Tournament is scheduled to take place from April 27 to May 1. The Nepal Hockey Association held a press conference on Monday and announced that the tournament will be held at the sports ground in Dhulikhel.


Teams from Nepal Army, Bagmati Province, Gandaki Province, Lumbini Province, Madhesh Province, and Sudurpaschim Province will participate in the competition. The Association revealed that the participating teams will be divided into two groups, and the matches will follow a league-less knockout format. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals.
