Disaster Management Fund has Rs 6 billion in deposit

KATHMANDU, June 16: The Disaster Management Fund of the government has Rs 6 billion in deposit.


Chief Executive Officer of National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority Anil Pokharel said that more than half of the total amount of the Fund is in the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund.

As shared by the officials, the amount will be spent for rescue operations, development of temporary settlements, supply of foodstuff and financial assistance to the disaster affected community. As per the legal provision, the amount of the fund should not be spent for other purposes.


Officials said the Disaster Management Fund has Rs 1.81 billion while the Province Disaster Management Fund has Rs 513.3 million. Similarly,  the District Disaster Management Fund has Rs 592.2 million in total.
