KATHMANDU, Jan 7: The possibility of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) securing one seat in the National Assembly member division has increased.

Sources indicated that during this morning's meeting, top leaders advanced discussions regarding granting one seat to the RPP, a development not seen until Saturday.

It is likely that the RPP will secure one seat from the number of seats decided upon in Saturday's meeting. "There is a discussion about whether one seat from the Maoist Center can be allocated to RPP," said the source.

In Saturday night's meeting, six seats were reserved for the Maoists, and preparations are underway to assign one seat to RPP from these five seats.

Chairman of CPN (Unified Socialist) party, Madhav Kumar Nepal, expressed disagreement with the agreement reached on Saturday night. He said that the two seats designated for his party were insufficient and demanded three seats.

According to the agreement on Saturday night, Nepali Congress was allocated 10 seats, CPN (Maoist Center) six, Rastriya Samajwadi Party (RSP) two, and Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) one seat.

Elections for 19 members of the National Assembly are scheduled for January 25. Top leaders and representatives have been engaged in continuous meetings for the last few days to reach a resolution. On March 3, 20 member posts, including one nominated by the President and 19, will become vacant.
