KATHMANDU, June 3: The discussion on the budget for the next Fiscal Year (FY) presented by the government to the parliament will start from Sunday.
In the discussion scheduled for three days, the main opposition party CPN-UML and the MPs of the ruling party have prepared to put opposing views on some of the provisions of the budget.

Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Saran Mahat submitted the annual estimate (budget) of revenue and expenditure for 2023/24 on May 29. Finance Minister Dr. Mahat will answer the questions regarding the budget raised in parliament.
The government has presented an annual budget of Rs 1.751 trillion for the fiscal year 2023/24. Of the total budget, Rs 1.141 trillion (65.20 percent) is recurrent expenditure and Rs 302 billion (17.25 percent) has been allocated for the capital expenditure. Similarly, Rs 307 billion has been allocated for financial management.
The budget aims to achieve broad economic growth. To maintain prosperity and good governance, the budget is also focused on building a digital and green economy. The government claims that the budget has come in a way to make maximum use of resources, address the suggestions and public expectations of the private sector, and communicate hope.
