Pre-budget discussion to begin in parliament from today

KATHMANDU, May 8: The discussion on the principles and priorities of the budget is starting from today in the House of Representatives under the Federal Parliament. Finance Minister Dr. Prakasharan Mahat presented the principles and priorities of the budget on Sunday.

KATHMANDU, May 8: The discussion on the principles and priorities of the budget is starting from today in the House of Representatives under the Federal Parliament. Finance Minister Dr. Prakasharan Mahat presented the principles and priorities of the budget on Sunday.


The Parliament Secretariat said that the discussion will be focused on that from today. According to the Parliament Secretariat, the meeting has been called for 11 am.

A meeting of the Business Advisory Committee of the HoR held at Singha Durbar on Sunday decided to hold the pre-budget discussions for four days. The parliamentarians will give their opinions on the proposal presented by the finance minister for five hours on Monday and Tuesday and two hours on Wednesday. 


The finance minister will respond to the MPs’ opinions on Wednesday itself. After that, the pre-budget discussions in the HoR will be over.


After the pre-budget discussions, the government's policies and programs will be presented in the next meeting. There is a constitutional provision to present the budget on May 29 every year. The government is preparing for that.
