KANCHANPUR, April 18:The families displaced by the Shuklaphanta National Park are facing acute shortage of food stuffs due to ongoing lockdown.
The locals living in Dhakka camp of Kanchanpur are expecting relief materials from the side concerned as they are hit hard with the food shortage. The families are the daily wage earners and now have no means of earning. A local Tej Bahadur Chand complained that they were waiting for foods but no one has so far extended hands to support them in such dire need.
Saldang faces rice shortage
According to the national park displaced people's struggle committee chair Hira Singh Bhandari, of the total 604 displaced families, 284 families are desperately waiting for relief these days as they have no food stuffs to fight the hunger.
Another victim, Moti Lal Chaudhary shared that the settlement adjoining the national park are getting relief package from different NGOs and local levels but they were getting nothing.
Such families were double victimized as their crops destroyed by animal from national park and got no compensation from the bodies concerned. Chaudhary further complained that no health team had so far reached there to take stock of their health condition.
He added that they did not even have face masks to avoid the threat of COVID-19 infection while going outside in search of foods.
