KATHMANDU, March 26: Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister, Ishwor Pokharel, left here today for the US, leading a Nepali delegation to participate in a ministerial-level conference on capacity building of peacekeeping armies and security under the UN peacekeeping mission.
DPM Pokharel, who is scheduled to address the conference at the UN Headquarters on March 29, would make the international community aware about the contributions made by the Nepal Army and Nepal Police to the establishment of peace under the UN peace mission and Nepal government's views on how the peacekeeping could be made more effective and result oriented.

Nepal armies are mobilized in the peacekeeping missions in various 12 countries across the globe.
During his stay in the US, the DPM holds separate meetings with UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, Deputy Secretary Generals including that looking after peacekeeping department, and senior US security officials.
Even the interactions with Nepalis diaspora, entrepreneurs and investors are in the DPM's schedule, according to his press coordinator Lokendra KC. The DPM is returning home on April 3. RSS
