DPM Shrestha assures of tougher move against fake Bhutanese refugee scam

KATHMANDU, May 11: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, Narayan Kaji Shrestha, has said the government would crack down on the nexus involved in the scam of sending people to the US in the cover of Bhutanese refugees.

KATHMANDU, May 11: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, Narayan Kaji Shrestha, has said the government would crack down on the nexus involved in the scam of sending people to the US in the cover of Bhutanese refugees.   


During his meeting with the leaders of CPN (Unified Socialist) and representatives of party-affiliated organizations here on Thursday, the minister said anyone found guilty in the case would be prosecuted while no innocent would be blamed for the incident.

Describing the scam as one of the forms of organized crime and "a crime against the State, " he said this is not just a case of corruption; it is an organized crime involving the people from top to bottom. This is the crime against the State to make the people Stateless." 


Stating that he faced no political pressure for actions against the scandal, he pledged to conclude the matter substantively.  He took time to say that he found Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal as his strong support in regard with the government action against the fake Bhutanese refugees scam. 


According to the Deputy Prime Minister, he has already directed the police administration to go with the investigations against the case confidently. As Shrestha said, he has told the police administration that he was there to face any sorts of possible political pressure against the investigation. 


The Unified Socialist leaders applauded the government's move in the case and expressed their solidarity to its actions against the crime.
