KATHMANDU, Oct 20: Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha, who experienced a heart attack during his visit to Beijing, has been transferred from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to a general ward.

On Friday morning, Shrestha's improving health condition prompted the move from the ICU to the general ward. In a brief video call, Shrestha himself confirmed the positive progress in his health.

Shrestha, who had traveled to Beijing for the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) program, had been feeling unwell since the previous Wednesday afternoon. After returning to his room in the evening, he was rushed to the hospital due to severe chest pain. At the hospital, an angiogram revealed a blockage in one of the heart's valves, affecting blood circulation.
