KATHMANDU, July 16: The Election Commission (EC) has started to update voter roll for accommodating missing eligible voters for the upcoming provincial and parliamentary elections.

EC Spokesperson Surya Prasad Sharma said those voters who missed out registration in the voter roll will have to approach the district election offices within 15 days. "We cannot conduct mobile camp at the village level. Eligible voters will have to reach the district headquarters to get registered into the voter roll," said Spokesperson Sharma.

Voters can get registered in all 75 district election offices from Sunday.  District election offices will register eligible voters at the respective office when they appear before the office with citizenship cards.  Unlike previous provisions, voters have to appear before their respective district election offices with the required documents.

Altogether 14 million voters are registered with the Election Commission so far. But the EC believes many voters are still left out.
