EC calls an all-party meeting to discuss upcoming National Assembly, local level polls

KATHMANDU, Jan 14: The Election Commission (EC) has called an all-party meeting to discuss the upcoming National Assembly and local level elections on Friday.

KATHMANDU, Jan 14: The Election Commission (EC) has called an all-party meeting to discuss the upcoming National Assembly and local level elections on Friday.


The EC has called a meeting at 11 AM at its office in Kantipath. According to EC’s Spokesperson Shaligram Sharma Poudel, the meeting will hold discussion on the upcoming National Assembly election and the updating voters’ list. The meeting is also expected to finalize the date of local level election.

Representatives of various political parties represented at the federal parliament, provincial assemblies and local units have been invited to the meeting. Elections are being held for 19 members of the National Assembly on January 26.


The EC has also expedited preparations for the local level elections to be held in April. Earlier, EC officials had held meeting with Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and suggested him to fix the date of local level elections on March 19.
