KALIKOT, AUGUST 3: Eight days after the closure of the Karnali Corridor, Pachal Jharna Rural Municipality has started efforts to bring the road back into operation.

Due to landslides, the Karnali Corridor had remained disrupted since July 25. The work to set aside the landslide is ongoing. Last Saturday, a landslide occurred in Pachal Jharna Municipality-8.

Dev Jung Shahi, chairman of the municipality, said that after the road was blocked, excavators were sent to remove the landslide debris. He informed Republica that there was a plan to clear the landslide debris and open the traffic by Wednesday.

In the area of Pachal Jharna Rural Municipality-8, the road is flooded and mud flows daily. There has been an additional problem due to a large landslide that occurred recently.

As there is no bridge on the Phugad River, traffic does not even cross when the water level rises. Due to the lack of canals and bridges in the corridor, the common people have to suffer every year.
