Election Commission to run voters' list updating program from Jan 28 to Feb 3

KATHMANDU, Jan 1: The Election Commission is conducting voters' list updating program from January 28 to February 3 at the administrative centers of all local units.


The poll body is updating the voters' list in view of the upcoming midterm elections scheduled for April 30 and May 10, officials said.

According to the commission, the voters' list of those who complete 18 years within December 20, 2020 will be updated in course of preparing the final voters list for the election.


EC Spokesperson Raj Kumar Shrestha said that registration of names for updating the voters' list has been stopped from December 21 as per the provision of not registering names in the voters list for the purpose of election after the announcement of the election date.


Only those registering their names in the voters list till December 20 can participate in voting in the upcoming election, Shrestha said. The EC has urged all local units, political parties, civil society, journalists and bodies concerned to provide necessary support in the voters' list updating program.
