Employees of Tourism Development Project arrested

KATHMANDU, June 1: The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has arrested Rajan Kumar Bhattarai and Sanjay Aryal, sub-engineers of the Tourism Development Project Unit Office in Kathmandu, on charges of accepting bribes on Friday.

KATHMANDU, June 1: The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has arrested Rajan Kumar Bhattarai and Sanjay Aryal, sub-engineers of the Tourism Development Project Unit Office in Kathmandu, on charges of accepting bribes on Friday.


The arrests were made based on information that the two were demanding bribes from service users to process the final bill payments after the completion of construction projects.

On Friday, the CIAA team apprehended them from their office with a bribe amount of Rs 17,000, sourced from the development project under Kathmandu Metropolitan City-31. Devi Prasad Thapaliya, the Assistant Spokesperson of the CIAA, said that further investigation into the incident is currently underway.
