EPL-18: Kathmandu Kings XI trounces Biratnagar Warriors

KATHMAND, Dec 17: Kathmandu Kings XI has clinched a win over defending champion Biratnagar Warriors by five wickets at their 15th match of the Everest Premier League (EPL) 2018 held at the TU Cricket Ground in Kritipur on Monday.

KATHMAND, Dec 17: Kathmandu Kings XI has clinched a win over defending champion Biratnagar Warriors by five wickets at their 15th match of the Everest Premier League (EPL) 2018 held at the TU Cricket Ground in Kritipur on Monday.


Chasing a target of 101 runs, Kathmandu Kings Xi achieved the target in 17.5 overs losing only five wickets.


Right-hand-batsman Kevin O'Brien scored 45 runs including two fours and three sixes off 43 balls and remained not out.  Similarly, Pardeep Sahu hit 23 runs including three fours off 23 ball while Amit Shrestha contributed 14 runs including two sixes off 11 balls.

In reply, Paras Khadka and slow-left-arm orthodox Roelof van der Merwe took two wickets each giving away 29 and 22 runs respectively  while Robeen Chhetri took one wicket.


Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss, Biratnagar Warriers had set a taget of 100 runs for Kathmandu Kings XI losing all wickets. 


Sumit Maharjan had made highest 25 runs including one four and two sixes off 23 balls, while Hari Chauhan and Paras Khadka had 22 and 21 runs respectively.


Kevin O'Brien claimed highest three runs giving away 18 runs in three overs.  Similarly, Pradeep Sahu, Roshan Mustafa took two wickets each while JK Mukhiya grabbed one wicket to restrict their opponent team to party 100 runs.
