Export via Chobhar dry port begins

KATHMANDU, July 13: Export through the dry port at Chobhar in Kathmandu has begun by transporting a truck laden with home-made woolen items to Denmark for the first time on Tuesday, according to the Chobhar Customs Office.

KATHMANDU, July 13: Export through the dry port at Chobhar in Kathmandu has begun by transporting a truck laden with home-made woolen items to Denmark for the first time on Tuesday, according to the Chobhar Customs Office. 


With this, a door for the exports through the dry port has opened up, said Chief customs Administrator Dhan Bahadur Baduwal. The consignments are worth 43,467 Euro (over Rs 5,571,000).

The dry port was officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on April 5. The port has received imports worth over Rs 73 million so far since it came into operation.


The goods and merchandise imported through Birgunj customs office, Mechi customs office, Biratnagar customs office, Bhairahawa customs office and dry port customs office, Parsa can be directly available at the dry port at Chobhar.


The dry port was constructed recently at the cost of over Rs 100 billion. The project spans 261 ropanis of land.
