Fair price outlet opened in capital

KATHMANDU, Sept 9: The government has operated a fair price outlet in Kathmandu targeting major Nepali festivals including Dashain, Tihar and Chhath from Monday.

KATHMANDU, Sept 9: The government has operated a fair price outlet in Kathmandu targeting major Nepali festivals including Dashain, Tihar and Chhath from Monday.


Food Management and Trade Company Limited, Salt Trading and Dairy Development Corporation have started an integrated fair-price shop at sales building of FMTC, Ram Shah Path. The shop will be operated until November 3.

Narayan Prasad Dhungana of DDC told Republica Online that such shops will be opened in other major cities of the country.


According to Brajesh Kumar Jha of STC, the shop offers a discount of Rs. 50 in ghee, Rs. 10 in paneer and Rs. 5 in sugar amounting 1kilogram each. Similarly, the consumers will get Rs. 2 concession in a kg of salt while Rs. 10 to 20 in a sack of rice and lentil.


Salt Trading Corporation, on the other hand, has opened six such shops in various places of Kathmandu while it is soon operating 34 shops in major cities around the country.
