Fake Nepali currency racket busted in Bara

BARA, Sept 26: A racket involved in dealing with fake Nepali rupees was made public by the District Police Office, Bara in a press conference on Saturday.

BARA, Sept 26: A racket involved in dealing with fake Nepali rupees was made public by the District Police Office, Bara in a press conference on Saturday.


Superintendent of Police Hobindra Bogati said in the press conference that Jagdev Mahato Nuniya of Simraunagadh Municipality-5 is among the persons who have been made public in connection with the incident.

SP Bogati said that a team of police personnel was sent from Simraunagadh after getting information that Nuniya was smuggling fake Nepali currency and that he was keeping the money at home. Police recovered 82,500 fake Nepali rupees from his house. He said that there were 81 notes with 1000 denominations each and 3 pieces of 500 denominations each.


SP Bogati said that an investigation has been launched to find the person who gave him fake Nepali rupees and how they used the fake rupees. Last year alone, 275,000 and 476,000 fake rupees were seized from Simraunagadh area.


Bogati said that an investigation has been launched to find out whether the main dealers of the seized rupees last year and the fake rupees recovered now are the same.
