BANEPA, May 22: The family members of the first COVID-19 death case of Nepal were discharged from Dhulikhel Hospital on Friday.
A 29 years old woman from Bharabise, Sindhupalchowk had died of COVID-19 on May 16. After her death, her 17 days old child, husband, mother, and sister were kept in an isolation ward of the hospital.

Issuing a press statement today, Dr. Ramesh Makaju, chief administrative officer of the hospital said that the child and other family members have been discharged from the hospital. “The child who had jaundice and skin problems is now fine after undergoing treatment,” he added.
The newborn tested negative for COVID-19 in two consecutive Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests. Other family members, too, tested negative.
Similarly, as many as 10 doctors, nurses, paramedics, and guards involved in the treatment were also kept in a quarantine facility.
The hospital has also asked the discharged individuals to stay in a quarantine facility for a week after they reach Sindhupalchok.
