KATHMANDU, Aug 13: The agitating construction entrepreneurs padlocked the office of the Director General of the Department of Roads on Sunday morning.


The Federation of Contractors' Associations of Nepal (FCAN) padlocked the office of the Director General of the Department of Roads as part of their third phase of protest programs.

A team of the agitating FCAN members padlocked the office of Sushil Babu Dhakal, Director General of the Department of Roads on Sunday morning. According to them, the lock will not be opened before 1 PM today.


FCAN has started the third phase of protest against the non-payment of wages and non-extension of projects. They have claimed that a large sum of money has not been paid by the government to them. The delay has caused numerous challenges and setbacks within the construction industry.


The FCAN has been demanding extension of contract period and price adjustments in line with the prevailing inflation rate. The construction entrepreneurs’ body has also asked the government to ensure fair compensation for their work in the changing economic conditions.
