ILAM, Oct 30: The Fikkal Bazaar is donning a hideous look with the delay in the completion of a landfill site, construction of which the Suryodaya Municipality in Ilam started two years ago.

The marketplace is now getting dirtier after the contractor company failed to complete the construction work in time. The waste products of the Fikkal Bazaar are being dumped in the Ramite area for the time being until the landfill site is ready, Suryodaya Municipality said. However, the locals have started to complain and are worried that the rubbish may affect them.

The landfill site is yet to be readied, so the management of the waste materials is getting harder, Municipality's Executive Officer, Rajendra Bhattarai said.

The Municipality had purchased seven ropanis of land near the Mayunkhola for management of the waste materials. District Technical Office's Chief Engineer, Om Raj Dhungana, said the contractor company would be asked to submit clarification as to why it is still not completing the job. RSS
