KATHMANDU, July 27: Finance Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat inspected the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) on Thursday.
Mahat reached the airport this morning for inspection. On reaching the airport, he also inquired with the customs officials.

A few days ago, the Department of Revenue Investigation (DRI) seized a huge amount of gold that had passed through the customs office of the airport.
Mahat has inspected the airport at a time when an investigation into gold smuggling is ongoing. Earlier, Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shretsha and others also inspected the airport.
While there is widespread criticism that although the gold peddlers have been arrested in the case, the masterminds behind the smuggling haven’t been caught, the government is under pressure to find the leader of the smuggling.
