Fire destroys property worth Rs 30 million

ITAHARI, May 21: Goods and property worth at least Rs 30 million were destroyed by fire that broke out at two wholesale cloth stores at the main market in Itahari Sub-metropolitan City-6, Sunsari district.

ITAHARI, May 21: Goods and property worth at least Rs 30 million were destroyed by fire that broke out at two wholesale cloth stores at the main market in Itahari Sub-metropolitan City-6, Sunsari district. 


It is presumed that the fire broke out at 12.15 pm on Sunday due to a short circuit. The fire was brought under control at 2 am using fire trucks brought from Itahari, Dharan, Inaruwa and Sundarharaincha and the support of locals, police and traders, police said.

The readymade clothes store belonging to Samudra Rai was damaged more in the incident incurring a loss of more than Rs 20 million. Both the cloth stores were operated at the house of one Purushottam Kafley. Similarly, clothes worth hundreds of thousands of rupees in the cloth store run at the house by one Gajaraj Shrestha were gutted.
