KATHMANDU, Nov 30: Thirteen young men and women from Nepal and a supervisor are visiting Japan under an exchange program that began on Saturday.
According to a press statement issued by the Embassy of Japan in Kathmandu, the team of two high school students and 10 university students left for Japan on November 25 to participate in the Japan-SAARC Network Program of People-to-People Exchange.

This is the first batch of students from SAARC countries visiting Japan under the government's Japan-East Asia Network of Exchanges of Students and Youths (JENESYS) Program. "The program aims at supporting capacity building of students through exposure to encourage them to participate in the development of the SAARC member countries, to promote mutual trust and understanding among the people of Japan and participating countries, and regions, and to build a basis for continued friendship and cooperation," said the statement.
During their stay in Japan, the Nepali delegation will be divided into two groups and will join other participants from SAARC countries. Besides Tokyo, one group will visit Akita Prefecture to the north and the other groups will visit Nagasaki City to observe Nagasaki Peace Park and the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum.
Both the groups will experience homestay with Japanese families where they can experience the traditional, rich and typical culture of Japan. The delegation will return to Nepal on December 6.
