Five COVID-19 patients die in Butwal COVID Hospital due to shortage of medical oxygen

The Hospital was supposed to receive medical oxygen provided by the government by Wednesday morning but failed to receive it until the afternoon. 


BUTWAL, May 12: Five COVID-19 patients succumbed to COVID-19 due to shortage of medical oxygen while undergoing treatment at Butwal COVID-19 Hospital.

Those patients were undergoing treatment in ICUs. They succumbed to COVID-19 following an acute shortage of oxygen, according to the hospital.


“Delay in oxygen supply to the hospital resulted in the deaths in hospital,” said Bishnu Gautam, Information Officer at Lumbini Provincial Hospital.


The hospital was expecting to receive the oxygen provided by the government by this morning but was not received until afternoon.


The deceased have been identified as a 29-year-old man from Butwal-11, 52-year-old man from Butwal-8, 59-year-old woman from Butwal-12, 52-year-old man from Butwal-13 and a 44 year old man from Nawalparasi district.
