GULMI, July 28: Flights have been suspended at Resunga Airport in Gulmi district for the past month.
Suman Thapa, the head of Resunga Airport, explained that flights have been halted since June 28 due to adverse weather conditions, including rain and thick fog during the monsoon season. Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC), which previously operated flights three times a week, has been unable to resume services since the end of June.

Passengers with tickets for flights between Resunga and Kathmandu report that they reach the airport daily in hopes of finding a flight. Chief Thapa stated that flights have been suspended to ensure passenger safety until weather conditions improve.
Resunga Airport typically operates with the 18-seat Twin Otter aircraft of the NAC, with scheduled flights departing Kathmandu at 6:30 AM and Resunga at 7:30 AM. The fare for flights from Kathmandu to Resunga is set at Rs 7,500, while the return fare is Rs 7,300.
Since the resumption of commercial flights last year, the airport has seen a rise in both domestic and international tourist arrivals. However, technical constraints due to high winds in the afternoon limit flights to morning hours only.
According to the airport, there were 125 flights from Resunga to Kathmandu over the past year. The airport is located about five kilometers from the district headquarters, Tamghas.
